20 years ago, I made my first independent films. The half-hour satirical puppet sketch comedy series "The Erica Crooks Show". I was 18 at the time.
Though I have experimented with video before as well as putting on live sketch comedy puppet shows in childhood, especially at my local public library for teens and adults (due to my sense of humor, even back then), 20 years ago is when I made my indie films and figured out how to edited them with a video editor.

Yep, that's Debbie Hoswell alright. Not only an early character from the early seasons of The Erica Crooks Show but a character from the early 2000s making her one of the first women characters performed by Erica Crooks. She started off as a parody of annoying teenage feminine girly girls that liked annoying music but eventually matured into an intelligent feminist.

The Erica Crooks Show Proudly Celebrates 15 Years of LGBTQ+ Pride !
The satirical puppet / animated cartoon sketch comedy indie film show created by Nonbinary Androgynous Femme Transgender Lesbian Woman " Erica Crooks " has both spread LGBTQ+ awareness especially Nonbinary as well as satirize the bigotry of Transphobia, Homophobia, etc through out the show's history. The show even mirrored back fears of coming out of the closet and helped Erica Crooks come out of the closet first through " artistic expression ". Nonbinary characters have appeared on the show during the second season in 2007. And in 2008, a character who identified as Androgyne / Nonbinary debuted struggling to get people to understand them.
The Erica Crooks Show is much more than a sketch comedy show. It's a show that expresses true human emotions through the art of puppetry & cartoon animation. It's a show that always encouraged anyone to follow their heart, non-conform, and be their true selves. As well as have a satirical laugh at those negative authoritarian brainwashed serious people conformists who disagree because they don't matter !
In 2021, Erica Crooks directed the puppet short film ( featuring the cast of The Erica Crooks Show ) " Let The Show Go On... ( Regardless ) " which featured The Erica Crooks Show's known " Hand " characters who symbolized human like creatures who felt different from the world around them but always wanted to be accepted for who they are. They have been the earliest creation of the show as well as the artwork of Erica Crooks and reflects the heart, meaning & message of it all. YOU ARE NOT ALONE !

I meet Jane Henson once and she suggested me to make my own puppets . I was still a kid but that advice I still kept to this day and I have . :)
Muppets Tonight is still one of my all time favorites as well as a strong influence to me as an artist . It's interesting. Around the time when The Secrets of The Muppets was shown on Nickelodeon , I wanted to learn about puppeteering and everything about the behind the scenes of The Muppets , Jim Henson and the performers . And when The Wubbulous World of Dr Seuss and Muppets Tonight came out , I REALLY wanted to go on television and be a performer. :) What's interesting is Muppets Tonight ended in 1998. However something special happened to me in that year. I got a private tour of Henson Townhouse and The Muppet Workshop. :) My mother overheard someone in a Pizza polar talking about someone they knew that worked for The Jim Henson Company and my mother raced to them and told them all about me and I got in. :) I think my mother still has pictures that we've taken of us at the Henson Townhouse door. It was amazing ! They were building for " Elmo in Grouchland " at the time. And one of the tricks that I've learned when I visited there was they kept all their foam scrap in a fabricated laundry hamper trolly thing .I should do a blog post talking about it one of these days. I was 10 years old and that and going to MuppetFest was the greatest times in my life as a Muppet fan . :) And the next year In 1999 , I had an idea for a puppet comedy show and today it's a satirical web series that I'm still doing since 2006. :) Long story short , Muppets Tonight and even The Muppet Show and Dinosaurs inspired me to wanting to do my own puppet comedy show and I'm fortunate to have made my dream come true through indie film and the internet. :)_ Erica
Puppet Shows are no longer just for kiddies ! Puppetry can also be entertaining for adults too ! And let me tell you , this is one crazy *****n' adult puppet show ! A puppet show so crazy that mainstream media wants absolutely nothing to do with it. An adult puppet show that's homemade 100% indie film ! 10 years ago Banned from Public Access Television ( eh , sort of ) . You've seen nothing yet !
