The first Courage the Cowardly Dog movie and it's not only just a direct-to-video modern Scooby Doo cross-over but ( even though most of the original Courage the Cowardly Dog cast will be featured in the movie except Eustace ) there is no involvement of the Courage the Cowardly Dog creator John R. BritBox Spitting Image Series 2 : Promo 2

These promos are better than last year. And even though the official Spitting Image has been uploading classic episodes / clips which is great , I have a strong feeling that BritBox Spitting Image Series 2 is going to end up just like Series 1. As I've mentioned before in my video essays, BritBox Spitting Image is closer to 1990s Spitting Image rather than 1980s Spitting Image, but still lacks in comparison to 1990s Spitting Image. But there are a few things to appreciate. BritBox Spitting Image Series 2 ( Official Trailer ) ( Review )

 I don't know if BritBox Spitting Image Series 2 will be any better than the first or if it's one of those situations where the trailers look better than actual new series of BritBox Spitting Image.

This does look funnier than anything I've seen in most of series 1.

And of course, bringing back Spitting Image's traditional " headbutt " .

Hopefully the new series will be closer to the 1980s Spitting Image and not just a modern day version of 1990s Spitting Image ( minus the satirical music parodies ), especially how the official Spitting Image social media has been uploading all of series 1, most of series 2, and a few episodes and clips from 1980s Spitting Image.

But of course because of the capitalism of the entertainment industry, it's mostly likely than not to have doubts and be skeptical.

So for now, I think it's just going to be another BritBox Spitting Image Series 1. But surprisingly decent clip. Though again, not as energetic as the original. And as before, there's that feeling that something is toned down a little bit.

Thoughts / Opinions on Anarchists against New Age Spirituality

  It's not uncommon to hear Anarchists / Leftists reject New Age Spirituality and vise versa. This is why I have talked about New Age Spirituality from an Anarchist prospective in terms of Anarchist Spiritual reform aka Spiritual Anarchism not only on blog articles but blog videos as well. There was even a recent sketch on my satirical show " The Erica Crooks Show " on how many Anarchists can be very ridged in terms of the " proven by science only " mindset that it can violate the liberty of Spiritual Anarchists / Religious Anarchists. 

 There was even a comic that I did with both an Anarchist and New Age Spirituality person arguing and my point again was why not both ? And of course Anarchists would be more willing to reject it not only as pseudoscience but also as just another hierarchical religion which explains why most Anarchists are Atheists. I've heard that Anarchists are skeptics and not believers, but what about those who are both ? I think the point of Anarchism is more on the lines of making sure that there's no hierarchical power over others. Anarchists tend to go after Spirituality like Religion and any other hierarchical doctrine written by the capitalist ruling classes in order to expose on it's real purpose which is to use brainwashing technics to keep us obedient, divide and conquer, etc. However I do believe that going towards Spirituality in such a way is again coming from an Atheist / proven by science only mindset and the point I was making in my satire is that if people don't use critical thinking, empathy and sympathy for others then they could get extremely caught up in it. If Anarchists want to be Atheists and believe that there's no afterlife, fine but that's just as much their liberty as an Anarchist that believes there is one at least. An Anarchist Society should welcome knowledge including knowledge from the past. At least in my opinion.

5 more days until Street Gang : The Documentary becomes available on digital. 

According to Muppet Wiki, this is from 1991 ( Season 23 : 1991 - 1992 ). The 1990s ( when the show's seasons were in the 20s ) was around the end of Classic Old School Sesame Street and the start of the change of the show's entertainment quality. Jim Henson's final season was Season 21. Richard Hunt's final season was Season 22. Tough Pigs mentioned how Season 25 was the indicator of the show's change in format as well as season 30 due to trying to keep up with the competition of other educational shows for kids like Barney & Friends which took a different approach then Sesame Street ever did. Elmo went from just one of the monsters to becoming a main character. When he first became a character, his personality was very similar to the short lived girl version of Cookie Monster named " Deena " who just wanted to play all the time to the point of being impulsive and causing problems to other characters. lol Then by the early 1990s, he became more Big Bird, child-like. Maybe it was around the time of Tickle Me Elmo but he became a younger character afterwords. It's true that Sesame Street is an educational show for kids but there used to be this great entertainment quality aspect to it. And as a fan of Old School Classic Sesame Street, I'm very excited about seeing this documentary. :) In my opinion, this is WAY better than the current one which seems to me like "Play With Me Sesame" level now, sort of. But I'm just expressing this as a Classic Jim Henson Muppet fan. :) I agree with Frank Oz who of course prefers the original version, where it used to be hip for adults. Often the original Muppet crew would describe The Muppet Show as being Adult / Family and Sesame Street as Kid / Family. And that's something The Muppets tried to revive which was Family Entertainment with quality entertainment. Jim Henson grew up in the 1940s / 1950s when entertainment and cartoons didn't have such a strict rating system and audience division like there is today with the entertainment industry. Unfortunately most people have that consumer mindset. Even YouTube has that COPPA law thing where people need to separate their videos for kids or for adults. Anyway, I'm very excited to see this documentary. It looks AWESOME ! :)

Spitting Image (1984) - Series 1, Episode 12 | Full Episode

The legendary final episode of series 1 of Spitting Image ( 1984 ) has been uploaded. This was originally intended to be the last and final episode of the show. The show would continue until 1996 with 12 years and 18 series, and then returning in 2020 with two series. The second series of Britbox Spitting Image starts this fall. Britbox Spitting Image is even more distant from 1980s Spitting Image than 1990s Spitting Image is. 

This features Sting singing the Spitting Image parody lyrics for "Every Breath You Take" which they called "Every Bomb You Drop".

This would be one of the biggest highlights of Spitting Image history.

Pepe Le Pew has been retired / fired / CANCELED by CANCEL CULTURE ( satire )

It's sad that Pepe Le Pew has been officially announced as retired / banned by Warner Bros. He's a satirical character. He's a romantic who's probably watched many romantic movies and read many romance novels but lacks experience in relationships and no one ever told him about boundaries, consent, respect, etc.

Today's culture seems different. Satire & Slapstick Comedy doesn't seem to be as popular as it used to be.
I love it because I feel artistically and creatively that it relates to this quote.
" Art Should Disturb The Comfortable And Comfort The Disturbed. "

I don't think any of this reinforces crime and abuse. It's satire. But culture is different now. It's very commodity focused rather than about life in my opinion.

Not everything is for everyone, not everyone can find this kind of humor healing. We all heal differently. Spiritually, through music, etc.

The world needs love, but we live in a world of hate, fear, sadness & pain unfortunately.

I don't think reform, commodifying, trusting people in power is going to solve anything. Fred Hampton talked about Class Conscious. The root cause of all political problems has the same pattern which is hierarchical power over others. If people got along horizontally socially, the world would be a better place. And when people live happier lives, people can laugh more. :)
Still, satire sometimes needs to do it's duty because that's what satire does. And satire is often a misunderstood art form.

Cancel Culture on Pepe Le Pew & Miss Piggy

It's been an interesting week. I was wondering how would Miss Piggy & Pepe Le Pew respond to the Cancel Culture controversies surrounding them. ;) I'm very happy that the originals are available on the streaming services but unfortunately there's people reacting to them negatively. There's this strong demand for "positive media representation" in characters. And to me, this explains why many favorites in pop culture history aren't as good as the originals in my opinion. Many comedy characters were satirical. But today, people think such characters are negatively reinforcing crime & abuse. And unfortunately, it's nothing new because satire has always been controversial & misunderstood. And the thing is satire and slapstick comedy has been apart of cartoons and puppetry just as long as the art form's existence in history. To me, it's artist tradition. I wish there was more cultural appreciation. But instead, art is looked at as a commodity, instead of what art and entertainment really is about. A reflection on life and the hard working, creative and talented people behind it as well as the fun and love they put into what they love to do. :)

iTunes is great for studying animation

 When it comes to buying digital movies, out of all main platforms, I usually stick with iTunes ( which is now Apple TV ) and the reason why is that the videos are downloadable which are quicktime files and through a quicktime player, especially animation, you can study the frames in detail. And if you don't have room on your computer, no problem, you can delete the video file and it's still in your library because it's on a cloud. Amazon doesn't do this. It's strictly on their video player only. Even though Streaming is very popular, I still recommend this as well as digital video ( and DVDs ) , especially when it comes to studying animation, film, etc.  #animation

Classic Sesame Street - (I Can't Get No) Cooperation

This is one of my all time favorite Classic Sesame Street moments. I remember discovering this on the 1990 VHS Rock & Roll and just rewinding the video over and over and over just studying this one song.

This was my introduction to The Rolling Stones. :) And of course, it's a parody of Mick Jagger & The Rolling Stones and their classic hit " I Can't Get No Satisfaction ". In this case, it's Mick Swagger & The Cobblestones in (I Can't Get No) Co-Operation. This was from Season 12 ( 1981 ) which was around the time when new Muppet Performers were joining in on Sesame Street. The vocals of Mick Swagger are performed by ( as well as composed ) the legendary Christopher Cerf. I'm a huge fan of his work on Sesame Street and he's definitely one of the best singers ever. :) He also made some great singles back in the early 1960s too ( Sweet Music, Fallout Filly, The Penguin, etc . )

I believe the puppeteer performing Mick Swagger is Karen Prell who would later be featured as one of the Fraggle 5, Red Fraggle on Fraggle Rock a few years later.

I also recognize Brian Muehl as the keyboard player. 

There's still many things from Classic Sesame Street which Muppet fans are discovering ( and listing on Muppet Wiki of course ;) ).

And it's really cool that many episodes and footage ( especially many which hasn't been seen in about 40 years ) has been restored and presented on HBO Max.

 American Networks decided no to Spitting Image out of

 “ Nervousness “ ( aka probably out of fear of being sued ) . 

What’s interesting is how 3 Spitting Image specials for NBC 

were shown in the 1980s made by the original crew for the most part, 

especially the original writers. Eventually NBC replaced any future deals 

with Spitting Image with D.C. Follies 

because the humor was more American and not as harsh as Spitting Image.

BritBox Spitting Image according to what I can see

 from the first episode seems Pro-Liberal.

So if this says something, it says America would want 

Spitting Image to be more like D.C. Follies.

I have reviewed the promo videos for BritBox Spitting Image 

and after seeing the trailer and the first episode, 

my opinion hasn’t change all that much.

BritBox Spitting Image is a disappointment, it’s commodified and Americanized.

Instead of being Leftist leaning like Spitting Image and even Les Guignols De L’info, the show is strongly pro-liberalism.

BritBox Spitting Image is like 1990s Spitting Image except commodified and Americanized for whatever is 

acceptable on mainstream media now a days. So it doesn’t matter that it’s exclusively for a streaming platform.

Familiar caricatures from the past seem different from how they appeared in the original series.

All the characterizations seem to be more silly and cautious observations rather than harsh and truthful.

Even the Prince Andrew situation is being treated rather cautiously.

In fact, the opening sketch with Andy in the first episode closely resembles the running gag sketches of

Piers Morgan on Headcases where Piers would be talking towards the camera and then something painful happens to him.

Like 1990s Spitting Image, it focuses more on being a parody comedy show rather than a political satire. Even to the point of shock 

and gross out gags for the sake of it and even punching down ( as far as Liberalism would allow ).

The politicians are just seen as ignorant people who are bad at their job rather than being rich bastards who’s only job

 is lying and making sure they don’t get caught.

The sketches are more extended in length and the humor isn’t fast pace, filled with puns and word play, and

 not much confrontation in a Punch and Judy fashion like the original.

In fact the slapstick in BritBox Spitting Image seems to be coming more from a certain character doing something 

ignorant usually toward themselves for the most part.

It does seem like a lot of the comedy is very cautious and very pro-liberalism instead of Leftist leaning which 

Spitting Image used to be known for as well as Les Guignols De L’info.

Stock puppets are slightly modeled after previous puppets from the series but slightly redesigned probably out 

of fear of being sued for not going credit to the original artists for certain designs.

 Another way to describe BritBox Spitting Image is that the humor is very mild and cautious,

especially with it’s slapstick comedy.

I’ll admit that seeing the silly moments do have potential of being funny,

but they seem very mild.

So again, it does feel commodified because 1980s Spitting Image

had several kinds of humor happening harmoniously and it was more fast pace.

The only way I can really describe the blandness is that it’s commodified and Americanized.

And it’s different compared to the 1980s original.

1990s Spitting Image also seems closer to the 1980s in comparison to

BritBox Spitting Image which is like 1990s Spitting Image but MORE distant from the original.

And like the 1990s, BritBox Spitting Image seems to be making the same mistakes.

It’s not just Spitting Image, this kind of commodified rebooting / reviving

happens ALL THE TIME in the entertainment industry.

But there’s always something wonderful about the originals that’s never present in the

remakes which are more often then not made by new teams of people with

different motives.

BritBox Spitting Image is not the rebellious pro-Leftist political satire 

that worked within the system like it used to be but instead this liberal commodified 

clone that closely resembles 1990s Spitting Image but humor is similar to current 

popular adult animation that isn’t very clever like Family Guy.

If there’s anything good to say about it, it would be the puppets but I can already 

see by the quality of the show itself that the budget is very low.

If there’s any similarity to the original 1980s Spitting Image, it would just be the caricatured puppets, 

caricature design style, familiar looking stock puppets, and the name of the show.

THAT’S ALL !

Spitting Image was much more than that.
